Citizen Beans
I’ve bascially spent all morning in front of the computer. But, what makes this morning different is that I’m not at work, but instead at Jury Duty. I expected to be bored out of my mind, but it’s not half as bad as I thought it’d be with internet access.
The thing about this is that I don’t have my own laptop. Who would have ever thought they’d have a bunch of laptops with internet access available for anyone to use while they’re waiting in the Jury Pool room. So basically all morning, I’ve been just surfing, emailing and chatting.
But don’t get me wrong, it’s not as great as it seems either for several reasons.
- This is a public laptop so the person that used this right before me might have been picking his dingleberries while typing away.
- You have a 20 minute limit so after 18 minutes, some annoying window pops up and makes a loud DING announcing that “YOU HAVE 2 MINUTES LEFT“, after which, the computer just automatically resets.
- Took me about an hour to get onto this laptop because the one I originally *shit it’s gonna reset*
- *ok I’m back* sat in front of had a jacked up keyboard that made evyyeerrttthiing iii tttyppe lllook llikkie tthiisisis.
- I have some hippy looking white dude standing behind me giving me dirty looks because he’s been waiting for a computer since 9:30 and knows I’ve been on this one through at least 3 resets. Sucker.
Anyway, I guess it’s still a hell of alot better than sitting in the stuffy room reading the Post or staring at the Chinese dude digging for gold.
